Compassionate counselling for children, teens, adults, couples and families throughout Newfoundland & Labrador.
Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected or simply ready for something to change, we're here to help you find a path forward.
Start with free 15 min consult to see if we can meet your needs.
At Healing Journey NL, we believe counselling is about more than simply getting through a difficult time—it’s about finding your way forward. Our counsellors offer compassionate, personalized support for anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, stress, relationship challenges, and life transitions.
We meet you where you are, without judgment, and draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches to help you better understand yourself, navigate challenges, and build on your strengths.
Our team brings together counsellors with different backgrounds, experiences and areas of expertise. That means you don't have to fit yourself into one particular approach to therapy.
We work with you to understand what you're experiencing, identify what you need and find an approach that fits.
There is no one-size-fits-all journey.
Therapy is available in person (office setting or walk & talk) and online (video or phone), allowing you to conveniently access support.

Heather Cook is the founder of Healing Journey NL and a Canadian Certified Counsellor with extensive training and experience in trauma-informed and neurodivergent-affirming care. Her work focuses on addressing concerns at their root and supporting meaningful, lasting change through approaches such as EMDR, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, hypnotherapy, and somatic therapy, with a focus on nervous system regulation.
Heather’s approach is integrative, solution-focused, and strengths-based. She believes in creating a supportive, collaborative space where clients can better understand themselves, build on their strengths, and develop practical tools for moving forward.
Heather also provides close supervision and mentorship to masters students who are in the final stages of their training, the practicum. She offers supervision both on-site and at a distance.
Emily Oxford works with children (5+), teens, and families navigating anxiety, ADHD, emotional regulation, school challenges, friendships, self-esteem, and life’s ups and downs.
Her approach is grounded in connection, creating a safe and supportive space where young people feel understood, accepted, and comfortable being themselves. Emily uses an individualized, strengths-based approach, drawing from CBT, DBT, ACT, SFBT, play, creative activities, and psychoeducation.
Together, Emily and her clients build self-understanding, confidence, and practical skills to help young people navigate challenges at home, school, and in everyday life.
